ARP Head Studs einbauen (7M-GTE)

also: alle, die mit dem Gedanken spielen sich die ARP Head Studs einzubauen und dafür NICHT den Motor rausnehmen wollen sollten folgende Anleitung beachten:

I guess I've become the man of some infamy for screwing up the "ARP in the engine bay" idea. Here's the breakdown of how ARP installs have to go while the engine is in the bay:

1) Install head gasket on block <br />2) Put the head on the block/head gasket <br />3) Put the studs in through the head and tighten them using the alan wrench broach in the end of the stud (seen in the above pictures) <br />4) LIFT the head about 1/2" - 1" off the block and prop up using some sort of soft material (don't damage your valves and/or head gasket here) <br />5) Drop washers on to studs and install nuts on the studs as well. You'll only be able to get a couple threads before it'll hit the head, but don't go that tight because you still have to get whatever you're using to hold the head up out. <br />6) Drop the head back down on the block. Insure it seats all the way down properly. <br />7) Using a 14mm 12-point thin-walled deep socket torque down the head.

The point of step 5 is to give you the clearance to get the washer under the valve plates. This brings the stud top down some and yields enough clearance to drop washer and nut on the stud without too much problems. You have to take it on an angle and get it under the valve assemblies, but it's pretty easy once you get a couple done. You'll have to play with the height a little to get enough threads above the washer to start the nut, but once you do that it's pretty easy.
